Born and raised in Bryans Road, Maryland, I got my professional start playing tenor sax at age 15, switching to trombone my freshman year at St. Mary's College of Maryland. Two years later, I joined George Clinton's Parliament-Funkadelic as trombonist and horn arranger for the next 19 years.
