About me...
Hi, I'm Greg Boyer, trombonist & horn arranger with Prince's NPG Band. I started my professional music career on tenor sax at the age of fifteen. I switched to trombone during my freshman year at St. Mary's College of Maryland. Shortly after my third semester, I auditioned for, and joined Parliament/Funkadelic (a.k.a. George Clinton & the P-Funk All Stars), where I was a trombonist and horn arranger (with the P-Funk Horns) for nineteen years. After retiring from the group, in 1998 I was asked to play with legendary saxophonist Maceo Parker.
I've played with other artists/groups such as Sheila E; Bootsy Collins; Hank Williams, Jr.; the GAP Band; go-go godfather Chuck Brown; jazz bassist Stanley Clarke; gospel great Richard Smallwood; reggae artists Third World; Israel Vibrations; and Patra; house diva Crystal Waters; Dog Eat Dog; and countless others.

Television appearances include "the Tonight Show w/ Jay Leno", "Saturday Night Live," "The Arsenio Hall Show," "Late Night w/ David Letterman," "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," "Last Call w/ Carson Daly," "The 1992 and 2004 Grammy Awards," "The 2005 NAACP Image Awards," "The Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame Opening Ceremonies," "2007 ALMA Awards" and "BET on Jazz." I also appeared in the motion picture comedy "PCU."
I'd like to personally thank Amrein (www.music-amrein.com), Schmelzer, and S.E.Shires Trombones for "the horns of my dreams," and Todd Clontz Mouthpieces (Rosso Music - Baltimore, MD) for their superior product and uncompromising craftsmanship. Unlike an egg, you can't beat 'em!
